Baby Fawn
This little visitor showed up 3 weeks ago and is still sticking around. We’ve seen her twice since this was taken. You’ve read about the various wildlife we have here and she was just too cute not to share. We were working in the backyard and got within 12 feet of her before seeing her near where we throw scrap wood and branches. We googled what to do to make sure she was not abandoned. Apparently if the fawn does not move when you see them it means they are 5 days old or younger. At 7 days old they are able to follow the Mother.
Klunkers and Cali
This was from our trip to Colorado a few years ago. Klunkers wanted to sit in the recliner but Cali beat him to it and she did not want company. Her ears are so flat to her head that it looks like they are missing!
The Kids Have Company
This is their cousin Dash. He actually has a real job. He is a bed bug dog. This means that he travels to hotels and other businesses to sniff for the presence of bed bugs. If he indicates bed bugs are present, the space must be treated to eliminate the bugs. He may very well be the world’s most spoiled bed bug dog. He fits right in rolling around in the yard and he really, really loves the toys here. He will bite and shake each one at least a second or two every time he is here.
Bates
Our little buddy has claimed his own chair to hang out in. He’s very smart because right here he’s where anyone getting up can easily reach out and pet him as they come or go in the room.
Fletchy
One of Fletchy’s new favorite activities in the yard
Klunkers
This is a younger Klunkers when he was fairly new to our home. This was one of his favorite places in the house. I really miss this kid!
Two Happy Campers
The kids spent a good bit of time outside tonight. Fletch was rolling in the grass and Bates loves sitting right in front of the lights. Here I caught them both in front of the landscape lighting. They look like two little campers waiting for Smores or listening to campfire stories.
Sharing A Meal
This is Cali taking the opportunity to sample Bates’ breakfast. She shares with him so often that the look on his face says he knows he can’t turn her away. He let her nibble for a while then when he started eating she just sat there and kept him company. She gets dry food in the daytime and her can of food at night when the dogs are not able to get to it. It doesn’t stop her from wanting to eat with her siblings too.
Polly In Action
Here on Father’s Day Polly is Mothering her sibling Fletch. She leans in to take care of one eye, then the other, then they just sat together watching the wildlife in the yard. We’ve added more furniture in the yard for the humans so that means the kids are able to spend more time outside.
